DAVID SANTIAGO GARCÍA
David Santiago’s photography stands out for its unique blend of artistic sensitivity and journalistic approach. He began his journey in photography at the age of 16 and, since then, has traveled to nearly 90 countries driven by a single obsession: to capture powerful and striking images of the natural world.
In addition to his passion for nature, David Santiago is a keen observer of the many expressions of human life, which has led him to publish over 500 photographic reports in magazines such as Viajes National Geographic, GEO, Traveler, Viajar, Viajeros, and Lonely Planet, among many others. His images have also illustrated numerous large-format books.
He is the principal author of books such as Pinceladas de Luz, Los ríos de España, El Parque Natural del Alto Tajo en imágenes, Foto a Foto 05, El fotógrafo ante el paisaje, Lugares y consejos para fotografiar la naturaleza en la Península Ibérica, Consigue fotos espectaculares, and Parque Nacional Garamba.
He has exhibited at the National Museum of Natural Sciences in Madrid and has produced photographic and video work for institutions such as the European Union.
As an educator, he has participated in initiatives such as Fotonature, the First and Second International Postgraduate Course in Scientific Imaging, and the series "A Year of Photography."
He is also a member of the prestigious PortfolioNatural.com collective.
For years, he collaborated with the Spanish Ministry for the Environment through TRAGSA, contributing his images to books, posters, exhibitions, audiovisuals, and interpretation centers. Notable projects include those for the National Parks of Picos de Europa, Ordesa, and Daimiel; the Alto Tajo Natural Park (Corduente, Zaorejas, Checa, and Orea); the Río Dulce Natural Park (Mandayona); the La Mitjana Municipal Park (Lleida); and the Nacimiento del Río Cuervo Natural Monument (Cuenca).
Throughout his career, he has received numerous national and international awards, including the overall prize in the photography contests of AEFONA and ASFERICO.
He remains active in editorial work and collaborates with agencies such as Fototeca 9x12, Aurora Photos, Westend61, and Manbos. He also works with organizations such as WWF/Adena and the CBD-Hábitat Foundation.
Currently, his main focus is the preparation and development of photography workshops and travel experiences, in which he merges his artistic vision with personalized teaching, guiding others to discover the invisible beauty of the world. With the same restless spirit that once led him across continents, he now explores new techniques and creative processes aimed at producing distinctive, innovative images that challenge conventional perspectives and stir new emotions.
For him, photography is not about capturing what is seen, but revealing what has yet to be truly observed.
