RAPESSED FIELDS
Drawing inspiration from other artists is a powerful tool for growth as a photographer. In my case, the influence of Juan Tapia has been particularly significant—his work led me to rethink the way I understand photography and, more importantly, the way I see. I’ve also felt a deep admiration for the painter Claude Monet, and even a kind of passion—almost an obsession—for Turner.
For this series, my inspiration came from the Italian writer and photographer Franco Fontana, known for his landscapes that verge on abstraction. I focused on exploring geometry, proportions, tones, two-dimensionality, and bold compositions. The resulting images lie on the boundary between the representational and the abstract, aiming to evoke sensations, emotions, or moods in the viewer.
All the photographs were taken in the cultivated fields of the Henares River valley, in the province of Guadalajara.
